The Morris Eight was produced from 1935 to 1948 as a small family car, its design based on the Ford Model Y. The car used Morris' UB series 918cc side-valve engine. The body was initially produced as either a saloon or open-top tourer car, later this diversified into a small pickup and a van variant. Compared to its main competitor, the Austin 7, the Morris was heavier and smaller but was more well equipped, with a full set of instruments and superior in performance thanks to its 8-inch hydraulic break.

In 1938, the car was given a slight facelift, bringing it more in line with the other cars in the Morris range, this was a slight precursor to the Series E that would arrive in the October of the same year. This brought a Major restyle to the Morris Eight, a new "waterfall" style grille that sloped down the front bumper and was integrated alongside headlights affixed to the wings. The engine switched to a Morris USHM, upping the power to 28bhp and the top speed reached up to 58 mph.
